Mount Baker venting Sunday Feb 10, 2013

Several reports of a large cloud rising out of Sherman Crater this morning. Please take photos and send via email to

  1. Pretty sure I saw steam yesterday (Feb. 15) at about 2PM from Hwy 20 west of Burlington. Sorry, didn’t have anything to take pictures. Since I live in Skagit county I see Baker all the time and this was the first time I thought there was steam. There were no clouds near the peak and the steam appeared to come from Sherman crater, in two plumes, a larger one on the north side towards the main peak and a lesser plume from the low side of the crater.
