Clayton Beach closure- UPDATE

Clayton Beach on a sunny day. It’s nice in a storm, too! Don’t allow access to this public gem be closed off by private interests: Burlington Northern Sante Fe.

I went to the Clayton Beach trailhead this afternoon. There are no signs or any evidence that State Parks is enforcing the announced closure. I walked all the way to the beach and no signs there, either.

No closure signs at the Clayton Trailhead as of Oct. 5, 2012.

I’d say go to Clayton, enjoy the beach and the geology, and stay tuned for more information about this official-but-unenforced closure. There may be some coverage by the Bellingham Herald into this issue.
