Wells Creek volcanics in the North Fork Nooksack field trip is published

Wells Creek volcanics form rock cliffs along Mount Baker Highway a few hundred feet above the Nooksack River gorge.

If you have driven up the Baker highway beyond Nooksack Falls you have passed through these rocks, part of a Jurassic chain of  oceanic volcanoes. The rocks also occur at the famous falls. The rocks are now accreted to the North America, and lie at the base of the stack of terranes that make up the Northwest Cascades System of the Cascade Mountains. Click here to take the field trip.
